Glen P. Belvis has over thirty years experience in all facets of licensing, intellectual property law and related antitrust matters. He is a member of the Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar, has litigated cases valued in excess of 1 billion dollars and prosecuted more than 500 patent applications.
Belvis was an equity partner at Brink Hofer for 25 years, before becoming Chief IP Counsel for Foro Energy. He then moved back to private practice as an equity partner at Steptoe & Johnson. While at Steptoe he joined Melior.
Belvis is a Master in the Linn Inn of Court, and a former Chairperson of the DePaul IP Advisory Board. He has testified as an expert witness and has lectured at Oxford and Peking Universities.
Belvis is the author of Intellectual Property in Business Transactions: Protecting the Competitive Advantage (Law Journal Press, 2010-14) and a contributing author to Intellectual Property Law (IICLE, 2017).
Belvis obtained a BS Degree in Chemistry from Notre Dame and a JD from DePaul. He was a law review editor and received the West Hornbook Award, presented to the student having the highest academic average in the class. Belvis was an extern for the Honorable William J. Bauer, United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
